In our featured setup, the photographer has arranged the lighting equipment to create a captivating portrait. The key to achieving the perfect shot lies in understanding how to manipulate light to highlight the subject's best features while maintaining a natural look.
Key Lighting Techniques
A. Camera
This shoot was done with the Sony A7S III and a 24-70mm F2.8 GM lens. The aperture was set to F2.8 to allow ample light while creating a shallow depth of field, keeping the focus on the speaker. A shutter speed of 1/50 was used, with an ISO of 640 for a bright and clear image.
B. Avant 100W + Softbox
Our Avant 100w, combined with a 24-inch quick release soft box and grid, delivers soft, flattering illumination. Positioned at a 45° angle, it beautifully highlights your subject, ensuring a professional look and minimizing harsh shadows.
D. Mini Max with Cyan Gel
To create depth and separation from the background. Our Mini Max was used a rim light. Equipped with a barn door attachment, it allowed you to control the direction and spread. Adding a cyan color gel introduced a pop of color that complemented the warm tones of the background.
E. Blade 10
To illuminate the background, Our 2 RGB Blade 10s were positioned outside of the frame—one to the left and one to the right—pointed at the background. Setting them to an orange hue added warmth and vibrancy, creating a dynamic and engaging visual effect.
F. Iris with Frosted Dome
The Iris light, combined with the V-Mount Clamp and Dual Ballhead Adapter, can be securely mounted to a desk for versatile use. With its powerful brightness output and the Frosted Dome, Iris provides soft fill light to the subject’s face and shadowed areas, ensuring a smoother and more natural transition of light.
